Business Office - Student Card Services

  • • Brown Bookstore Charge Accounts
  • • Reactivate replacement Brown IDs for Brown Bookstore Charge Accounts
  •   -Replacement Brown IDs need to be reactivated before Brown Bookstore charges can be made.

  •   -For problems with a Delining Balance account, go to the Brown Card Office.
  •       -Brown Card Office is in J. Walter Wilson, 69 Brown Street, 5th floor, Room 511.
  •   -For putting money on a Delining Balance account or paying Brown University bills, go to the
  •     Cashier's Office.
  •   -CVC machines only accept cash to put money on Declining Balance accounts.
  •       -There is a CVC machine in the ATM lobby behind the College Hill Café in the bookstore.
  •       -CVC machines accept cash only, up to $20.00 bills, maximum amount of $50.00.

Brown Bookstore Charge Accounts

  • • All full-time students are set up with a Brown Bookstore charge account.
  • Charge accounts are set up with a $2,000 non-revolving limit per year.
  •       -Year starts June 1st and ends May 31st.
  • • Bookstore charges will be added to your Brown University account and billed as per standard Brown University policies and procedures.
  • • Bookstore charges are included in the monthly electronic billing statement managed by the Bursar's Office.
  • • Bookstore charges are posted in summary on the monthly bill; Detailed line item purchase information is only on the original receipt given to the student at time of purchase.
  •       -Save your receipts for detailed line item purchase information.
  • • If a student's account is delinquent by $1,000 or more with any of their Brown University bills, the student's Brown ID will be put on hold by the Bursar's Office and no charges can be made.
  •       NOTE: Only the Bursar's Office can take a hold off a student's Brown ID.

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm during academic year
  • Location: Brown Office Building, 164 Thayer Street, 2nd floor
  •       -Go to back lobby in bookstore (Campus Shop side), use elevators or stairs

  • • Account on hold - If a student's account is on hold, the hold can only be taken off by the Bursar's Office.

Cashier's Office - Student Card Services
